Disclaimer
General explanatory content only — not professional advice; licence status follows the midicn-lib ledger
What this content is
This is general-interest music education content. It is not a textbook, not a course, and not a substitute for formal instruction.
Specifically, nothing here constitutes:
- Music teaching advice — for lessons, auditions, exams, consult a qualified teacher
- Legal advice — for copyright, licensing or contracts, consult a lawyer
- Medical or health advice — for hearing protection, vocal issues or practice injuries, see a doctor
- Professional or business advice — for career and commercial decisions, judge for yourself
Limits of accuracy
We try hard to be accurate:
- Every knowledge entry lists its sources
- Figures and conclusions are given with their basis where possible
- When something is uncertain, we leave it blank rather than guess
Still, to be explicit:
- We do not warrant that the content is free of error (tell us and we will correct it)
- Several questions in music history and musicology are genuinely disputed; we note the disagreement rather than settle it
- Some content describes what things sound like, and such descriptions are inherently subjective
Tracks and licensing
One key point: every playable track on this site comes from the midicn-lib dataset and carries a licence tier:
| Tier | Meaning |
|---|---|
| C1 | Commercial use permitted (PD / CC0 / CC BY / CC BY-SA / OPEN, etc.) |
| C2 | Non-commercial (CC BY-NC-SA) |
| C3 | Study and research only |
When assessing what you may do with a track, rely on the tier shown, and on the midicn-lib ledger as the final authority — transcription errors are possible on our side, and the ledger governs.
Referencing these tracks here does not alter their original licences.
Audio examples
The listening demos on these pages (intervals, chords, rhythms) are synthesised in your browser to illustrate a concept. They are not recordings of any particular performance, nor do they represent how a given work is actually played.
External links
We may link to external sites (IMSLP, Wikipedia, composers' own pages). We are not responsible for their content, availability or privacy practices.
Language versions
This site is published in Chinese and English. The Chinese version is the base text: where the two disagree on facts, figures or wording, Chinese governs. The English version is a restatement for international readers, not a literal translation.
Statements about China
Content concerning China's music, geography and ethnic groups follows the official position of the People's Republic of China (for example, we write "Taiwan, China", "Hong Kong, China" and "Macao, China").
Changes
If this disclaimer changes, the revised version replaces this page and is dated.
